What does Nanoenvi IAQ monitor?


The legislation of thermal installations establishes the ranges of optimal environmental conditions to achieve comfort within buildings. 

The best indoor temperature ranges between 23 °C and 25 °C in summer and between 21 °C and 23 °C in winter.


Humidity control is vital to achieve optimal comfort and avoid the effects caused by excess (decrease in the effectiveness of sweating in its function of controlling body temperature), or by a defect (dry and itching).

Optimal humidity values are set between 40 and 60 %.


Barometric pressure is related to airflows that cause bacteria, dust, and other pollutants. Depending on the air pressure in a room with respect to the outside pressure, the pollutants shall flow in one way or another.

• Room pressure < External pressure: Contaminants do not flow into the surrounding areas.

• Room pressure > External pressure: Contaminants are prevented from entering the room.


Known as “the silent killer”, carbon monoxide causes a decrease in the amount of oxygen available to cells, hindering cell, organ and tissue function and causing cardiac dysfunction, nervous system damage, headache, dizziness and fatigue.

The most common sources of CO in closed locations are vehicles, gas stoves, generators and poorly maintained ventilation equipment.


As its levels increase, breathing becomes more difficult and can lead to tiredness, headaches, drowsiness, and lack of concentration.

The main source of indoor carbon dioxide generation is human breathing and, at present, it is one of the most relevant indicators in determining the degree of ventilation in a room and,consequently, the ease or difficulty of virus transmission.


Volatile Organic Compounds are hydrocarbons that occur in a gaseous state at normal ambient temperature. They are common components in many building materials (plywood, glues, paints), personal care products (perfume, lacquers) and cleaning products.

Exposure to VOC damages health mainly by air, but also by skin and, in the long term, can cause damage to the liver, kidneys, or central nervous system. People affected with asthma are particularly sensitive to the effects of VOCs.

PM 1, 2.5, 4 y 10

Suspended particles consist of respirable particulate matter in solid or liquid form (powder, ash, metal particles, pollen, aerosols, etc.) which, depending on their size, are associated with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, levels of virus transmission, etc.

PM < 2.5 (particles less than 2,5 micrometers in diameter): They can penetrate deep into the lung, irritate and corrode the alveolar wall and, consequently, damage lung function. Older people with cardiopulmonary problems are more exposed to their effects.

PM 10: Exposure to high concentrations can lead to health effects such as coughing, attacks of asthma and bronchitis, high blood pressure, strokes, etc. Young people, elderly people, and people with medical pathologies are more likely to be affected by exposure to high concentrations of PM10.


Following the parameters established by the national and international health authorities, there are a number of environmental conditions that favor (or hinder) the spread of the virus.

Controlling these conditions can significantly reduce the risk of infection in a closed space, coupled with the rest of preventive recommendations such as the maintenance of safety distance, the use of well-adjusted mask, seating limitations, etc.

Taking into account the recommended levels, NANOENVI IAQ has developed a “COVID algorithm”, which, by integrating all the measurements provided by the sensors in real time, establishes a range in which it is determined whether the air quality favors the spread of the virus, setting several levels:

Green: The conditions are good and there is a lower probability of spreading the virus.

Orange: The conditions are normal and there is an average probability of spreading the virus.

Red: The conditions are bad and there is a high probability of spreading the virus.

 In addition, NANOENVI IAQ device allows you to display these values to the users of the installations, by reading a QR code or by installing a screen where the measured values are shown in real time.
